Conference Special Projects
Rhodes Memorial Methodist Church
1. Re-Development of Rhodes Methodist Church
This project is costing over $1 million and will consist of the construction of an Activity Center and the extension and renovation of the existing church. The Activity Center will facilitate the church's ministry to the densely populated Montrose Avenue and Wulff Road Communities. Included will be Soup Kitchen, After-school Care, Education Courses, Youth Development and Counseling Activities.
2. St. Paul's College
Funds are required to enable St. Paul's College to be a viable force in providing top quality education at the high school level in Freeport, Grand Bahama.
3. Susanna Wesley Pre-school
This was the only Pre-school facility on the island of Andros. However, the Pre-school closed in 2005 due to financial constraints. It is hoped that the school can be reopened in the near future.
4. Administrative Block
An Administrative complex is planned for the central management and administration of the Conference in New Providence.
5. Credit Union
Deposits at no or very low interest are required for the proposed Credit Union to be launched. It will provide emergency funding to needy participants in New Providence, the Turks & Caicos Islands and on Grand Bahama.
6. Wesley School, Providenciales
The Pre-school in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands has been expanded to a Primary School. There is however need for capital in operating expenses and capital requirements. This school was dedicated in January 2005.
7. Providence Methodist Church
A new chapel is planned for Shirley Street/Okra Hill in New Providence. This area is badly in need of relief after years of social neglect.
8. Fox Hill Church
A chapel has been developed in the densely populated area of Fox Hill in New Providence. Youth and other facilities are needed.
9. Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd
A dynamic ministry has begun in the fast growing Carmichael Road area, and a new church is planned with an activity center. A tent has been placed on the land and worship services have commenced on Lord’s Day, February 11, 2007.
10. Andros Buildings
A new manse is being constructed in Andros and new church premises have to be built in this growing island community.
11. Youth Facilities and Assistance
A full Youth Minister is being sought to coordinate Youth Development Programs, counseling, skills training, sports, martial arts, instruction in musical instruments, character education, substance abuse prevention, parental support, tutoring in English, Math and Christian Principles, sports activities, and computer introduction. A fully equipped Youth Center will be constructed as well as youth camps in the Family Islands. Assistance will be given to teenage mothers, Girl Guides, Brownies, Boy Scouts and Boys' Brigade, Youth Choirs and Marching Bands.
12. Eleuthera Church Building
An effort is being made to establish a chapel and activity center for the youths on the island of Eleuthera. Wesley Methodist Church (MCCA), South Eleuthera. Construction has begun to build a chapel and activity center for the youth on the island of Eleuthera.
13. Medical Facilities
The work at the Aids Camp needs to be expanded. We make regular visitations and hold services there. Medical care is being considered for congregations where ready access to a doctor is unavailable.
14. Broadcast Facilities
Equipment and finding are needed to enable our radio programs and newsletter to continue and to expand our outreach into television, the Internet and beyond. Radio Programmes that are aired on radio are Family Vibes on ZNS 1@7:30 p.m.
Vision- Sundays on ZNS 1 @ 9:00 p.m.
To God Be the Glory- Tuesdays on ZNS 1 @ 7:45 p.m.
15. Professional Counseling Center
Its programs of spiritual and religious encouragement, marital and pre-marital stress, crisis management, substance abuse and individual or group counseling services are in need of new premises in New Providence.
16. John Wesley College in Nassau
This Primary School started in the Nassau in April, 2005. Funding is also needed for the operation of this school.
